Ron Carter Trophies Trial… results

21 06 2011

The Stroud Valley Motor Club held the annual Ron Carter Trophies Trial at Nymphsfield, Gloucestershire, in glorious sunshine after the previous day’s rain, which drenched the clubs marking out team. The first lap was uneventful; however, as the water was dragged up the banks, the following laps became very slippery.

Henry Bendall proved that he is the man to beat in the Western Centre, despite a soft five on the very first section he managed to finish with a 16-mark advantage over second place Lee Hassall who finished on 34 marks lost. Ben Toms finished third and John Cowley forth chasing Lee hard on 35 and 36 marks respectively.

Nathan Pekala had an 8-mark advantage over Darren Walters on the Clubman Expert route.

The Clubman route was hard-fought between Tim Wheeler and Rob Faulkner, with Tim coming out on top by one mark. Both losing ones and two here and there throughout the trial.

The Sportsman route was very slippery in places but was eventually won by evergreen Billy Andrews on 3 marks lost. Second place was a tie between Roger Brain and Ron Walters, with Rob Halliday taking the Pre 65 award. At the finish everyone seem to have enjoyed there day out in the Nymphsfield mud.
